Found the problem with the Ovation, a bent pin in the jack...like WAY bent. I bent it back and it works (for now) but I probably need to avoid the attempts to exit stage left while still plugged in! No Gorilla Glue™ or duct tape this time.
The new pedal is still alive and well...I did order some Super High Quality (ah...4 for 10 bucks?!) guitar cords so Mike wont have to pretend to play anymore :-)
