Swords, Portraits, Mulch & the Scale

Over the past few days while waiting to hear back from ITT we have tried to stay busy around the house.

Project # 1 was to fit a spare subwoofer into the cabinet for the old home sub. It's risky business throwing drivers into enclosures haphazardly but we tried to make the process reversible by screwing the new driver into a plywood template then mount it on the old box. Do you really care? No, but thats what we did. The sound is a little boomy now but better since the old driver was shot.
#2 With the saw already out I used the scraps to make wooden swords for the boys. Hayden proceeded to whack the flowers off the plantings on the back porch. Oops. Not my brightest moment.
#3 Heather let me take some portraits of her on our anniversary date. Heck yeah! I sorely needed the practice and while pleased, I still have a ways to go. She took a couple of me (yikes).

#4 For those who care, the neglected side yard landscaping was next, we worked on fixing the border, installed a weed barrier and planted all of two clearance Mums. Previously the area was so choked with stuff we decided to till it all up and start over. To our surprise some roses grew back...they were there all along and survived the tilling! Next year we'll work hard on this area.
Finally I received my super scale ordered on a closeout blowout from Woot.com. It has you hold a contraption while you weigh that measures all sorts of stuff...how it does...we are not really sure, I think it has to do with astrophysics or something. The scale has profiles for the users and stores the info to track progress. Lets just say that Paulywog has not fared well during this time of work underutilization. Time to get on track!
