Mast Farm Inn

Welcome to Valle Crucis, NC. We drove an couple of hours away from Asheville (a little separation from the offspring does wonders) to stay one night at a B&B. We were the only ones on the property during this mid week off season excursion so we were upgraded to a cottage in the pines for the same price. Cool stuff.

The mast farm is an old group of buildings from some of the original settlers including the original house (not shown) which can be occupied as well. The forecast called for rain all week but God sprinkled a little grace on us with great weather and blue skies.

We hiked down a trail to see some waterfalls which provided a photo op.

Trusting the GPS we went to Banner Elk for dinner...wow was that mountain road curvy. This was after the GPS took us on a winding dirt road to the trail with sheer drop offs beside the road. I am refusing to post a picture of dinner based on comments from Lisa H. Actually they are on the Point and Shoot which has dead batteries so maybe I'll get to it.

The fireplace was one of the highlights of the room even though the temp shot up to the 90s if the windows were not open.

Breakfast was great..too and we hated to leave but we can't risk Mamaw and Papaw coming to their senses and refusing to watch the kids ever again....Off to grandfather mountain to meet them and have some fun.
