The Grass Whistle

Today marked the 10th day away from home. We decided to blow this popsicle stand and head up the parkway to do a "little" hiking. The BR Parkway is full of trails here and there and we had no preconceived notion of where we would end up...but we needed to get out for a while. Mt Pisgah eventually became the choice:

A quick 3 mile round trip up and down 712 feet in elevation with Crocs and no provisions is just what the doc ordered.

Hay made it up all 1.5 miles without a complaint!
Around 5000 feet we were getting into some clouds bt the view was still nice:

Once on top we enjoyed the view and the 68 degree temps. WLOS has a controversial (for the view) tower on top that was obscured in the clouds.

The hike back down was a different story...looking down a steep trail is a little more intimidating than up so I ended up carrying Hay most the way...but its all good.

Back home we were gearing up for Matt and Sarah's belated wedding shower. A gaggle of people showed up to wish them well and enjoy some smoked ribs, chicken and shrimp. Here is Uncles Mike and Steve teaching Jake about the finer things in life (like Grass Whistles, Indian chanting Mike style and frog hunting)

An overly tired Hay said tonight he wanted to see his friends at home and started to put on his sandals to go to Indiana...see you soon!
